Professor Martha P.Y. Cheung Memorial Scholarships for Outstanding PhD Students
Two scholarships are established to honour the memory of Professor Martha Cheung, Chair Professor of Translation at HKBU, who passed away in 2013.
Professor Martha PY Cheung Memorial Scholarship for Outstanding PhD Entrants
Eligibility
This is an entry scholarship. The candidate must be a new entrant to the PhD programme of the Department. Priority will be given to regular UGC-funded students, although students accepted under the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme (HKPFS) may also be considered.
Value of the Scholarship
HK$25,000 will be awarded to one outstanding PhD entrant in a given year. The award will be paid during the first semester of study.

Professor Martha PY Cheung Memorial Scholarship for Outstanding PhD Progress
Eligibility
This is a progress scholarship. The award is open to any PhD student of the Department undergoing Candidature Confirmation in a given academic year.
Value of the Scholarship
HK$25,000 will be awarded to one outstanding Candidature Confirmation performance (i.e. 2.5 years into a student’s studies under the 4-year PhD system).
